Isnt colonialism justified the best through the Orient itself and the very existence of internal colonialism within it?

I think internal colonialism is not limited to giving a role model to the icons of Western societies. In fact, there is still an even more internal level of colonialism in our country which makes a minority the role model at the expense of marginalizing the majority by labeling them as Shahrestani or … (all cut from the same cloth as Other). The media, no doubt, have an important role in presenting and promoting this view.

What aroused my curiosity is, assuming that West is imposing such “recontextualization of ‘fact’” on other societies, can we positively state that Arabs, as big part of East, are also influenced by Kate’s modesty and simplicity in the same way? Arabs are famous, more than Iranians, for their gaudy appearances so much as they get to have a name in fashion industry as Arab make-up! But it seems that they are not so much involved with the iconic simplicity of Western brides in general!

The point I am making is something beyond orientalism and its victims. If Arabs are not influenced by Kate’s simplicity and they still proudly admire their own cultural codes, and accept the difference as a value, then we as Iranian society are dealing with another issue. And that issue, whatever it is, is the answer to your last question! Why are we doing this to ourselves?

Hope we can have comments from how other Eastern societies perceived the royal simplicity!!!
