I really don’t mind the contest itself. I enjoy watching it, in fact, and even more so since I live in Australia. What I find questionable, however, is the open eye for the kitschy performances and a blind eye towards accusations of human rights violations, corruption, dictatorship and lack of press freedom… So, I was astounded by the only political statement in the finals by Anke Engelke:”… it is good to be able to vote. It is good to have a choice. Good luck on your journey Azerbaijan! Europe is watching you”…
