Thanks for bringing out a very thorny and fundamental issue which i cant agree with you more has escaped the eyes of linguists. Pakistan in particular is a mine of such youths who have been denied quality language learning and such youths have been denied real life opportunities by using English as gate keeping mechanism. Public sector jobs, civil service examinations require higher degree of competence which is almost impossible to achieve in the circumstances and opportunities provided by state in public sector schools in Pakistan. The county of 180 million people bleeds every other day and mostly the killers and victim are young people. Media and state give certain interpretations to these killings but no one address the fundamental issues of angry young man and women of Pakistan.

Thanks once again for thought provoking post.

Best,
Khan
