The importance of promoting cooperation between countries by using minority languages is vital in ensuring that all citizens benefit. There are many countries in the world that have minorities who speak diminishing languages and therefore might have limited access to essential information. English as a lingua franca is troubling in those areas where minority language groups don’t have opportunities to learn it. In Finland, for example, Sami speakers are a great minority and promoting Sami language in international cooperation, tourism and cultural exchange programs would greatly benefit Sami people.
