It is such an interesting post. It brings to my mind a study done by Alexander Jaff, Ideologies in Action where the community efforts to revive the language actually proved counter-productive. The community thought by restricting other languages, it will revive its own indigenous one which actually proved counter productive.
Please let me share one example from Pakistans province Sindh. It is a southern province of Pakistan where majority speak Sindhi Language especially in rural areas. The Sindhi nationalist movements want to have this province separated from Pakistan. They raise slogans against the double colonizations of Urdu the national language of Pakistan and English Language which they critique as language of colonizers. I have recently completed my field work in this province and during the field I had the opportunity to speak to teachers, nationalists, scholars in great numbers.
