What I love about the idea of learning to listen from a language teaching viewpoint is it shows why listening to a range of accents helps learning – accents from other learners, in teaching materials and also in the outside world. It also explains why it matters when media is dubbed, or adults switch away from minority languages at home, because every chance to hear a language is also a chance to learn.
