Dear ICAL TEFL,
Thanks for your comment. In my corpus of about 100 advertising materials, the scores the tutors had received (e.g IELTS 8.5) were often presented as qualifications. They did not reveal any other qualifications.

When I taught privately I always laid out my qualifications for potential students to see!

However, teaching English is way different from knowing English by heart. I learned English in the UK and when I started teaching in Iran it took me a while to figure out why I use certain sentence structures in certain places.

Just wonder how many people have read the report from The Telegraph in 2008 about the declining of English and even will turn English into Panglish. What would happen to those young children who are learning English now and relearn Panglish few decades later ?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1582954/English-will-turn-into-Panglish-in-100-years.html

By 2020, the native speakers of English will be 300 millions. If China does as Indonesia, stop teaching English in the primary school, the non-native speakers would down 1 billion and that you count for others which are not accurate at all. For example, the government list English as a second language in Malaysia, but only less than 10% people use English at home or at work. But the statistic would go by the nation population, 27 millions.

Researchers have to be aware of this.
