Maybe it’s best I stayed in Adelaide’s China Town given my voice and Van Gogh’s ear for music; to say nothing of my tin ear or the seven tones in Cantonese and four in Mandarin..

Guangdong, whose capital is ginormous Guangzhou (formerly Canton) is China’s wealthiest province and one of its most populous. Perhaps the most famous saying there, at its core, references the mutually incomprehensible lingo divide (when spoken) between the northerners and the southerners: “The mountains are high and the Emperor is far away.”
