Kayu Hashimoto first came to Australia as a high school student. After four years in Sydney she returned to Japan for a university degree in policy studies. Disillusioned with negative attitudes towards foreign-educated women in Japan, she moved back to Australia to undertake a master’s degree at Macquarie University. Upon graduation, Kayu again moved back to Japan to work for
NPO 2050, where she gained significant experience running aid programs. She has now returned to Sydney and started her own NPO group which aims to improve the wellbeing of women and girls in developing countries.
