Ryota Ogi

“I thought I won’t be able to move if I don’t do anything right now”, Ryota Ogi told us at the beginning of this interview in Martin Place, Sydney. After working as a pastry chef in Japan for three years, he decided to leave for Australia on a working holiday visa. In Sydney, Ryota attends an English school, but his real passion is yo-yo; he competes at international championships and busks as a street yo-yo performer on Pitt Street. Describing himself as ‘in-ward looking’, he hopes to learn to become more open and passionate from Australians.

「今アクション起こさないと、もう動けなくなると思ったんです」とシドニーのマーチンプレースでお話してくれたのは荻良太さん。日本で3年間パティシエとして働いた後、ワーキングホリデー制度を使い2011年に来豪。英語の学校に通いながら、ヨーヨーのパフォーマンスをピットストリートで行っている。「内向的」な自分を変えたい、そしてそのお手本はオーストラリア人から学んでいきたいと話してくれた。
