Exclusionary feedback? International students’ perspectives on the feedback they get on their assignments. Chu-lin Grace Chang This research is part of a larger investigation into the language learning experiences of Taiwanese higher education students in Australia. Participants were asked to collect any feedback they received on their written assignments and these were discussed with participants. It emerged that few participants received any useful feedback. Some assignments were never returned, in other cases the hand-written feedback was illegible and many included general comments that puzzled the participants. I will provide an overview of the feedback received by my participants and how they made sense of it. I will close by describing the few instances where participants received helpful feedback that made them feel included in a valuable learning experience.
